a = not a, contradictio in adjecto, self-same contradiction, logical inconsistency, ironwood.is a typewriter a press? well, here at sideroxylon press we (which is just me) believe it is.by bringing together poetry and labour our committed aim is to release one of a kind lovingly typed limited editions of the very best slanted, queer, political, experimental poetry with a focus on poets within the borders of the colonial entity presently called canada.

russell carisse is a mad queer poet currently living on unceded Wolastoqiyik/Mi’kmaw territory in New Brunswick. Here they have resettled from Tkaronto (Treaty 13) to an off-grid trailer in the woods, with their family of people and animals, to grow food and practice other forms of underconsumption. author of five chapbooks, their work is forthcoming or in, ARC Poetry, Queen’s Quarterly, The Temz Review, Touch the Donkey, also online.

submissions open.we are looking for short antifascist, agitprop, nonsense, gimmicks, dada, slogans, short screeds, anagrams, haiku sequences, long and skinny poem, anything interested in language, politics, and poetry.we aim to publish runs of:
- 25 mini-chapbooks 10-20 a5 pgs
- 50 micro-chapbooks 10-20 a6 pgs
- 100 broadsides 8.5×11 (1-3 poems)
- 8 to 10 times a year
- sales at bookfairs and online
poets are paid 20% of the run in author copies, international poets must pay for shipping, additional author copies are 50% of cover price. copyright remains with author.poets from marginalized communities such as Indigenous, 2SLGBTQIA+, BPoC, Disabled, Immigrant/Refugee, Incarcerated, Impoverished, etc, are strongly encouraged to send their work.house font is 10 per inch pica (no italics) typed on a 1929 LC Smith & Corona, standard #8-12, so keep this in mind for manuscript formating. covers are semi-random red and black text with title and author.we do not accept AI, racism, sexism, fascism in any form.walls of text are a hard sell, 1500 words max.please attach your unpublished, (website, quarterlies are ok) manuscript to a query email and bio, sent to [email protected] with the subject line "Submission, Title of MS"orif you would like the whole process to remain undigitalised, except the website catalogue and ISBN registration, send your manuscript and cover letter (with return postage if wanted) to:sideroxylon press
